Physiotherapy - What to Expect

1

Make an appointment

It first starts with a telephone call, we discuss your concerns and I check that I am the right person to help you. If I am the right person for you we will then make a mutually convenient appointment.

2

Home visit

The first appointment is an hour and I come to a quiet un-interrupted space in your home and assess you or your child. We will talk, I will observe movement patterns and functional abilities.  I may need to measure you or your child, so loose clothing is advised. Clothing may need to be removed if the spine needs to be fully assessed.

Whatever your age I will make the session as enjoyable as possible, using age appropriate games and activities to make it fun.

For children, I encourage both parents to be there. For Teenagers and adults, it is useful to have someone who is close to you at the appointment so that they can remind you of any questions that you may forget to ask, and to support you if there is information I need to impart that you may find upsetting.  I have seen and heard it all!

Physiotherapy Costs:

An assessment in and around Finchampstead costs £100 for up to an hour, which includes reports and any letters required.

Follow up appointments are £70 for between 45 minutes and an hour.

Travel more than 10 miles from the Wokingham area, costs £80 for an appointment up to 45 minutes to one hour.

I accept cash, cheque and bank transfer.

3

Treatment Programme

At the end of the session, we will discuss my findings and talk through option;  a treatment programme for you to do on your own or with your child,  or intensive 1:1 sessions.

This maybe a further assessment, general advice, a specialist referral or a treatment programme. A treatment programme can come in the form of exercise and activities to do with your child on a regular basis.   I will ensure that you are comfortable with any activities given.

It is through repetition that a person can progress and make changes.  Repetition makes the connection in the brain stronger, as well as your muscles, this in turn results in a functional improvement in your day to day life. i.e. climbing stairs or riding a bike.  Together we set practical goals to work towards to get you or your child moving.

I am fully insured and a member of HCPC, CSP and I am DBS checked. You can check directly with these organisations regarding my accreditation.
